Access platforms, ladders and stairs have to be custom-designed to suit each application. We have extensive experience in the design, manufacture and installation of bespoke access platforms in factories and other business premises across the UK. Sizes of access platforms vary enormously and we are happy to manufacture anything from small steps to very large and complex platform systems.
Bespoke access platforms can easily prove more cost-effective than using scaffolding and they can help employers meet their obligations under the Work at Height Regulations 2005 (WAHR). Our access platforms, guard rails, stairs, stepladders and fixed ladders are designed, manufactured and installed to comply with the relevant parts of BS EN ISO 14122.
Typical requirements
Access platforms usually provide for some or all of the following:
- Safe viewing of machinery or processes
- Access for loading raw materials
- Access for routine inspection or maintenance
- A safe route between or over machines
In most cases we supply the corresponding guard-rails and stairs, stepladders or fixed ladders to complement the access platform.
Access platform design features
Access platforms and elevated walkways are designed to meet the height, span and loading requirements, with suitable railings where necessary. Correct material choice is essential to ensure the platforms are fit for purpose. For example:
- Stainless steel for platforms in the food, drink and pharmaceutical industries
- Mild steel or galvanised steel for other industries
Materials used in the manufacture of Access Ladders and Platforms are therefore selected to suit the structural requirements and application.
It is especially important to choose the optimum material for flooring and steps, as this affects slip-resistance, hygiene and durability. Materials we use include:
- Open tread flooring
- Durbar flooring (checker plate)
- Fibreglass flooring
Application
Design and manufacture of access platforms and small mezzanine floorings. For pedestrian access or as machine operators platform. All platforms are designed in accordance with the latest relevant standards.
Construction
Platforms are constructed from a range of steel sections, to suit the application and size. Fixed or moveable options are available, if space is an issue. Non slip flooring and stair treads can be specified.
Finish
All steelwork is galvanised and/or polyester powder coated in a colour of your choice.

Installation Service
The majority of our products are supplied packed and delivered direct to customers’ sites across the UK complete with all necessary fittings and instructions for customers to install themselves. For more complex products like access platforms, we are able to provide an installation service using our own trained site fitters.
