Why use stainless
steel machine guards?
Stainless steel is often used in conjunction with clear polycarbonate or stainless steel wire mesh where there is a need for process visibility.
Different applications call for close-fitting stainless steel guards, enclosures or perimeter guarding – and sometimes a combination of these is necessary. Machine guards primarily prevent access to hazardous machinery but they can also protect against noise, dust, fumes, mists or other hazards relating to the machinery, materials or process.
Choice of grades and finishes
Depending on the application, different grades and finishes of stainless steel can be used, including polished and dull-polished.
Design and
production capability
In addition to this expertise we also have the state-of-the-art CNC machinery that is necessary for manufacturing high-quality stainless steel guards. Our in-house design and manufacturing capabilities ensure we maintain complete control over quality and delivery timescales. Installation service Customers often ask us to install machine guards so they can minimise disruption and downtime. Our installation service has the following benefits:
- Highly experienced machine guard fitters
- Large team of fitters enables installations to be completed as very quickly
- Our own electricians connect safety interlocks to the machine’s control system
- Installations are carried out at times that are convenient for you, including nights, weekends and at scheduled maintenance shutdowns
Standards and compliance
We design, manufacture and install our bespoke stainless steel machine guards in compliance with relevant standards including BS EN ISO 14120 and BS EN ISO 13857. Where appropriate, the guards also comply with BS EN ISO 14159 (hygiene requirements) and standards specific to the type of machinery being safeguarded. For new machines or pre-owned machines that need to be CE marked before they can be used, stainless steel guards aid compliance with the Machinery Directive and the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations. For existing machinery, stainless steel guards can help employers meet their legal obligations under PUWER (Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations).
